Strategic Marketing

This course provides a thorough understanding of the strategic marketing process, from analyzing customer needs, to developing products and services, integrated communications, taking them to market, order fulfillment, and successfully managing customer relationships. Topics include the marketing mix and the holistic marketing concept, marketing research and forecasting, environmental analysis, market segmentation, customer relationship management, brand equity, managing marketing programs, integrated marketing communications, online marketing, and return on marketing investments. In this course, students explore and analyze marketing strategies that are integrated across the organization and its customer touch points, the communications mix across distribution channels, and the customer lifecycle. They also learn how to optimize the core processes of the value chain, analyze the competitive environment, develop and execute an integrated marketing communications mix, and formulate and implement marketing strategies for acquiring and retaining customers.

Community management involves monitoring conversations across platforms, acting as the active voice to the community, and implementing content and strategy across platforms. This course will provide insight into how community management works and how it differs from social media participation. Also, learn best practices for maintaining a strong social media presence.

About Piper Nichole

PIPER NICHOLE creates a wide variety of advertising, marketing, web design and more for national, local and global clients. She is also very happy to be teaching classes at NYU’s Integrated Design and Media (IDM) program at the Tandon School of Engineering and the NYU School of Professional Studies in the Division of Programs in Business.

Piper’s digital and design projects include working with: corporate marketing for Bank of America/ Williams Lea, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), National Geographic/DISNEY, New York Community Trust, Talon Outdoor, NYU’s Center for Urban Science and Progress, NYC Media Lab (which works with major media companies, Verizon, NBCUniversal, Bloomberg, AP, Audible and more, as well as universities across New York), Newmark Knight Frank Capital Markets, e-commerce sites and more.

Piper enjoyed being a guest speaker at NBCUniversal’s “Creative Workshop,” speaking on creativity and social media. Her design work also appeared on the iconic Times Square billboard (where the New Year’s Eve ball drops!).

Her background includes: Digital Project Manager at NBC12 and working with Raycom Sports designing advertising for the ACC, Atlantic Coast Conference, which reaches millions of households. She was also Special Projects Manager for Raycom Media/Gray Television, one of the largest U.S. broadcasting companies.

Her paintings have been carried by the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery store, Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and other galleries. She also offers training through the University of Richmond.

She is the author of The Everything Homebuying Book, 3rd Edition (Simon & Schuster, Everything Series), The For Sale by Owner Handbook (Career Press), and Buying a House on a Shoestring (Career Press). She has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal’s Real Estate Journal, CNBC, MarketWatch/Dow Jones, AOL Real Estate, ABC Radio, Yahoo! Finance, Washington Post’s Reader Express, NASDAQ, The Boston Globe, ShareBuilder, Bankrate.com, Traders Nation, Cable Radio Network, USA Radio Network (syndicated to about 100 radio stations), ESPN’s Viewpoint and more! 

She is a member of AIGA, the national professional organization for design, the Women’s Media Group, and the American Marketing Association (AMA). 

Piper received her M.S. from NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, in the Integrated Digital Media (IDM) program.
